Custom newborn photography at my Gold Coast newborn studio

One of the things I love most about newborn photography is that no two sessions need to look exactly the same.

You might find a photo in my portfolio that you absolutely love, but want it in completely different colours. You might love the soft, simple style but want florals added. Or you might arrive with absolutely no bloody idea what you want beyond “I like neutrals” 😂

All of those are completely fine.

My newborn sessions are styled individually around the colours, textures and overall feel you love, using the collection of wraps, fabrics, outfits, bonnets, headbands and newborn photography props I have here in my Pimpama studio.

One newborn prop, completely different looks

These photos are actually a perfect example.

Every image was created using the same Hello Little Props bucket.

The bucket has a magnetic styling system, which means different fabrics and styling pieces can be attached and changed without needing an entirely different prop for every look. Here we used beautiful lavender tones, then changed little details around baby to create several different images that still belong together beautifully.

A bonnet gives it one feel. Bare little newborn hair makes it feel completely different. Add a delicate floral headband and suddenly we've created another variation again.

And because the styling pieces themselves can be changed, this exact bucket doesn't have to be lavender next time.

It could be earthy and neutral, soft pink, blue, cream, green, floral, rustic, minimal or something designed specifically to work with the rest of your newborn session.

That flexibility is one of my favourite things about having adaptable newborn props in the studio.

You don't need to recreate someone else's newborn photos

I think this is something worth mentioning because Pinterest and Instagram can make planning newborn photos feel slightly terrifying 😂

You don't need to find one exact photograph and tell me to recreate it.

In fact, I'd much rather know what you love about the images you're drawn to.

Maybe it's the colours. Maybe you love florals. Maybe you prefer really simple setups without lots happening around baby. Maybe you love warmer earthy textures, or you want everything soft and light.

Those little pieces of information give me enough to start creating something for you.

My job is then to take that inspiration, combine it with what I have available in the studio and style a session that still feels like your baby's newborn photos, rather than a copy of somebody else's.

A cohesive gallery without every photo looking the same

Customising a newborn session also doesn't mean we need to completely rebuild the set every three photographs.

If baby is beautifully settled somewhere, I'm going to use it. 😂

Small changes to accessories, wraps, layers, angles and framing can give you plenty of variety without constantly moving your newborn between elaborate setups.

It also means your final gallery can have lots of different images while still looking cohesive when they're printed together, placed in an album or hung throughout your home.

Planning your Gold Coast newborn photography session

When you book a newborn session with me at Hollow & Hearth Photography, you don't need to arrive with a fully formed Pinterest board and a colour-coded presentation. Promise. 😂

Before your session we'll talk about the colours and styles you love, anything meaningful you'd like incorporated and, equally importantly, anything you really don't like.

From there, I can style your session using the collection available in my Pimpama newborn photography studio.

Whether you're drawn to soft neutrals, colour, florals, earthy textures, traditional posed newborn photography or something a little more relaxed, the goal is to create photographs that feel like they belong to your family.

Because your baby isn't the same as anyone else's.

Their newborn photos don't need to be either. 🤍
