Sunrise at Fingal Cliffs | A Northern NSW Maternity Session
There’s something about sunrise sessions that feels slower than the rest of the world.
The beaches are quiet. The light arrives softly. Everything feels gentler somehow, like time pauses for just a little while.
This maternity session at Fingal Cliffs carried exactly that feeling.
Wrapped in soft morning light along the Northern NSW coastline, these two arrived holding the quiet excitement that so often surrounds the final weeks before meeting your baby. The anticipation. The tenderness. The feeling that everything is about to change in the most beautiful way.
And beside them the entire morning was their sweet dog, already stepping into the role of protective big sibling long before baby had even arrived.
Between running through the sand, weaving between their feet, and pausing to press soft kisses against mum’s belly, he brought such a sense of warmth and familiarity to the session. Those little moments, the unplanned ones, are often the moments that end up meaning the most later.
Nothing about this session felt forced.
It unfolded naturally, with space to move slowly, breathe deeply, and simply exist together within this chapter of waiting and becoming.
That’s always the heart behind maternity sessions with Hollow & Hearth.
Not stiff posing or perfection, but creating space for connection to unfold honestly. Capturing the feeling of this season as it truly was, before tiny stretches become toddler steps and quiet mornings become busy family days.
Fingal Cliffs remains one of my favourite locations for maternity photography near the Gold Coast and Northern NSW for exactly this reason. The dramatic headlands, soft coastal light, and open shoreline create a setting that feels both cinematic and deeply grounding all at once.
And paired with a family already overflowing with love, it became something truly special.
